Coffee Capsule Compatibility Guide
Short answer: coffee capsule systems are not interchangeable. Match the system named on your machine with the same system named on the capsule box. Nespresso Original and Vertuo are separate systems; Dolce Gusto uses its own capsule shape; ESE uses a standardized paper pod; and Lavazza A Modo Mio and Espresso Point are distinct formats. Use this guide before ordering, then confirm the compatibility line on the individual product page.

How to identify your machine system
- Read the model name on the front, base or product label of the machine.
- Check the manual or current capsule box for the exact system name.
- Compare capsule shape only as a secondary check; the written compatibility statement is the deciding signal.
- If an adapter is involved, verify the exact adapter and machine model on the product page before purchase.
Common compatibility questions
Can Nespresso Original capsules be used in Vertuo machines?
No. Nespresso states that Original and Vertuo are separate systems that use different capsules.
Are ESE pods the same as capsules?
No. ESE is an open standard for single-serve paper pods. The ESE Consortium defines a diameter range of 43.5–44.5 mm, commonly described as 44 mm.
Can an adapter make every capsule work in any machine?
No. Adapters are model- and system-specific. Use only an adapter whose listing explicitly names both your machine and the capsule format.
