Description
IKAPE Kapo K1 Portable Espresso Maker, an 18-bar hand-sized machine with a real 51mm basket. It fits ground coffee and capsules in one compact body built to travel.
Overview
The Kapo K1 is IKAPE's entry portable maker, built around a 51mm basket, the same standard used in home espresso machines. At roughly 700 grams it's light enough for a backpack, and it switches between a ground coffee compartment and a capsule compartment depending on what you're brewing. There's no heating element on this model, so it runs on hot water you bring yourself, from a kettle, a flask, or a nearby coffee shop tap.
Key features
- 51mm basket: Holds 14 to 18g of ground coffee, IKAPE recommends 16g for a balanced shot.
- 18-bar extraction: Built-in motor pushes a proper golden crema out of the puck.
- Split brew compartments: Swap between the ground coffee basket and the capsule holder depending on the trip.
- 2000mAh battery: Good for around 100 extractions before it needs a recharge.
- 40-second auto-stop: Extraction cuts off on its own to protect the motor if you don't stop it first.
How to use
Tamp 16g of ground coffee into the 51mm basket (or load a compatible capsule instead), fill the 100ml tank with hot water up to the 60ml mark for a single shot, then hold the power button. Extraction starts within about 5 seconds and yields 35 to 40ml of concentrate. Because there's no heating function, have your hot water ready before you start.

Why we love it
The 51mm basket is the detail that sells this one. Plenty of portable makers skimp on basket size and give you a thin, weak shot, but this fits a real dose of coffee.
