What decaf coffee is
Decaf starts as ordinary coffee beans, and a process removes most of their caffeine, so a small amount stays. On Nespresso capsules, the intensity number describes roast and body and says nothing about caffeine.
Some product pages name the decaffeination method, and it applies to that product only: the Swiss Water Process for Bold Brews Moonlight Blend Colombia Decaf, CO2 for Saquella Caffè Decaf ground, and sugarcane for Caffè Borbone Miscela Dek beans. The product pages for Viaggio Decaffeinato capsules and the Lavazza Caffè Decaffeinato tin describe them as naturally decaffeinated. The other decaf listings do not name a method.

Nespresso Original decaf
These are Nespresso's own decaf capsules for Nespresso Original machines, 10 capsules each.
- Nespresso Decaffeinato Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio, intensity 9. The decaf version of Arpeggio. Dark roast, cocoa notes, full body. Brew as a 25 ml ristretto or a 40 ml espresso.
- Nespresso Decaffeinato Volluto, intensity 4. Light roast, sweet and biscuity. Brew as a 40 ml espresso or a 110 ml lungo.
- Nespresso Decaf Vienna Linizio Lungo. Round and smooth, malty cereal notes. Best as a lungo.
