The chasen is the traditional Japanese whisk for matcha, and there's still no better tool for the job. Its fine bamboo tines whip matcha powder and hot water into a dense, uniform foam in seconds, while the shaped handle keeps the fast whisking motion comfortable and controlled.
Sift your matcha into a bowl, add a small amount of hot (not boiling) water and whisk briskly in a W motion until a fine foam forms. Rinse the whisk in warm water and let it air dry, tines up.
